The Yogi Review: Sports Bras Compared
This is Sara Quiriconi, @livefreewarrior, fitness and healthy travel expert. I've partnered with EverydayYoga to help you pick out the PERFECT sports bra! Now, finding the ideal sports bra does require a little bit of individuality, because what fits me isn't exactly going to fit you just the same. However, I have easy-to-remember tips that will help guide you there. So, what should one look for when deciding on a sports bra? As you'll see in this guide, I like to focus on a few key categories to base this decision off of, including: functionality, comfort, style, and price.
NUX Hold You Up Sports Bra ($59.00)
Fabric: 80% Nylon, 20% Spandex
This is definitely the softest of the bunch. The fabric had me oooh and ahhh from the first touch. It offers mid-level support with a built-in shelf bra. The sexy and stylish wrap-around tie brings out the fierce warrior goddess in me. This sports bra is both functional and stylish. I could absolutely get away with wearing this bra with jeans for a night out in Miami.
Manduka Cut Out Bralette ($34.99 – originally $56.00)
Fabric: 88% Recycled Polyester, 12% Elastane
The fit of this sports bra is incredible. I love the gentle strap support and sexy little cut outs on the side. This bra definitely delivers on style and functionality.
It's a medium support bra, with a super soft fabric and inner mesh lining on the cups. I actually love this bra so much that I got it in two colors (grey and orchid)!
Betsey Johnson Side Cutout Bra with Mesh Yoga Crop Bra ($24.99 – originally $42.00)
Fabric: 91% Nylon / 9% Spandex
It's no secret that Betsey Johnson knows her fashion, and this side cutout bra is a perfect example of that. It's a mix of sexy, sporty, and style - all in one top! The mesh designs in the back and front offer breathability.
Personally, I love the front mesh “V” for a bit of ohh-la-la. The side "X" designs along the ribs added even more appeal. This bra was a sweet surprise to add to my dual purpose collection of "gym-to-althleisure wear" items in my closet.
Spiritual Gangster Seemless Strappy Front Bra ($32.99 – originally $48.00)
Fabric: 92% Nylon, 8% Spandex
This sports bra is simple, stretchy, and full of "gratitude" (check the back label)! It's all in the details with this strappy front bra from Spiritual Gangster.
It's ideal for low support or those with smaller chests. This bra is perfect for layering, Miami living (#endlesssummer), or going to a hot yoga class.
Hard Tail Double Cross Yoga Bra (from $34.99 - $64.00)
Fabric: 90% Cotton, 10% Lycra
You don't know soft until you've touched this fabric! Made in America, this scoop neck top is made out of 90% cotton material (hence, why it's so soft!).
It offers a full coverage, so you don't need to worry about any potential wardrobe malfunctions when you're downward facing dogging. This sports bra is great for running, pilates, gym workouts, as well as a yoga practice. It's a great all-around use top to have in your collection.
Beyond Yoga Strapped In Yoga Sports Bra ($45.99 – originally $58.00)
Fabric: 90% Nylon, 10% Spandex
This was my first Beyond Yoga sports bra, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cut, fabric, feel, and story behind this company!
There's an uber soft feel to it. The straps are incredibly comfortable. Also, for a smaller gal like myself, this bra top offers perfect coverage and medium support for flips, turns, and twists on the yoga mat. Plus, this salmon color is a beautiful pop for a summer tan!
